Stunning photographs of Comet NEOWISE – One of the brightest comets since Comet Hale–Bopp appeared in 1997
Back in July, 2020, Portland-based photographer Lester Tsai captured mesmerizing and spectacular photographs of Comet NEOWISE above Mt Hood when he traveled to the Mt Hood National Forest. Mt Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon, and is part of the Cascade Range, a belt of volcanoes running through the Pacific Northwest. In March, 2020, Astronomers discovered a retrograde comet with the help of NEOWISE space telescope(Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer)and named it C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) or Comet NEOWISE, it’s a highly visible comet seen in the northern hemisphere since Comet Hale–Bopp came within 122 million miles (197 million kilometers) of Earth in April of 1997, which was visible to even the naked eye during 1996 and 1997.
