Handmade randoseru backpack inspired by samurai armor

Noriki Okada, a leather craftsman, has elevated the iconic Japanese item randoseru to the realm of art via creating a handcrafted piece inspired by samurai armor.

This randoseru backpack captures attention with its bold colors of black, red, and yellow, and intricate craftsmanship, featuring small leather plates and brass rivets that create complex patterns similar to those found on 11th-century samurai armor. The oni demon faces on the sides of the backpack not only add a sense of power and mystery but are also deeply rooted in history.

Okada uses scrap leather left over from the production of other randoseru, a sustainable approach that reduces waste and gives each backpack a unique character.

The manufacturer, Murase Kabanko, suggests that this backpack is more suited for decorative purposes, priced at approximately 500,000 yen (around $3,300 USD), making it a luxury item for collectors and enthusiasts of samurai culture.
