Exquisite embroidery sculptures resembling the art of nature
Inspired by the beauty of nature, Australian visual artist Meredith Woolnough uses a special sewing process to create sculptural embroidery ranging from veiny leaf skeletons to the intricate structure of coral. The technique Woolnough uses isn’t typical embroidery, she works with a unique technique (a domestic sewing machine) to stiche intricate design onto a base cloth that can dissolve in water, after the base fabric dissolves, leaving only the elegantly sculpted stitchwork.
