Laser-scanning microscope reveals an incredible world of insects to us
Igor Siwanowicz, a neurobiologist at Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Farm Research Campus, was once a biochemist, and now, he uses laser-scanning microscopes to capture the insect world visible to our naked eyes. “I first laid hands on my microscope only three years ago, when I changed fields,” Siwanowicz told Wired. “I used to work as a biochemist, but I decided that neurobiology was more in tune with my naturalist approach. Plus they have these cool toys.”
