Amazingly carved book landscapes and architecture by artist Guy Laramee
Montreal-based Guy Laramee has worked as a stage writer, director, composer, a fabricator of musical instruments, a singer, sculptor, painter and writer, the most impressive thing of all, though, is the incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures including temples, mountains, caves, volcanoes, and even water that are created out of old books. Old dictionaries and encyclopedias are Guy Laramée’s favorite mediums, who carves them with a method called sandblasting, and then applies oil paints, inks, pigments and dry pastels, crayon, adhesives, and beeswax to strengthen visual effect.
