Rollercoaster-like bridge with incredible slope in Japan
If you have the fear of rollercoaster, the Eshima Ohashi bridge in Japan might be your nightmare. The two-lane concrete road bridge has a height of 44m and extraordinarily steep incline from the banks of Lake Nakaumi, spans mile across Lake Nakaumi connecting Matsue with Sakaiminato, which is the largest rigid-frame bridge in Japan and the third-largest of its type in the world. The reason it was designed to rise sharply is to let ships pass underneath. In fact, it has a gradient of 6.1% on Shimane Prefecture side and 5.1% on Tottori Prefecture side; such abrupt effect is photographed from the front with a telephoto lens which makes the slope seem even steeper.
